Actress Manisha Koirala, who was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer, underwent a successful surgery in New York Monday."Manisha underwent a surgery on Monday at around 9 a.m. I got a message from her family members and they said it was a successful surgery," Subroto Ghosh, Manisha's manager, told IANS."Manisha's mother, father and her brother are by her side. One of her close friends is also there with her," he added.Several speculations regarding her health were made following her hospitalisation in Mumbai.Manisha was admitted to the Jaslok Hospital Nov 28 after she reportedly fell unconscious. It has been eight years since Pushpa Basnet, a 28-year-old Nepali woman, began gathering the children of Nepali prison inmates in a centre in the capital, Kathmandu, and providing them not only with shelter, but also education and motherly love.Now she has won 2012's CNN Hero of the Year prize, which is awarded as a result of a worldwide online poll conducted by CNN.When she talked to BBC Nepali after being nominated for the award, Ms Basnet said that if she won she would use the money to help build better facilities for her children.She became the second Nepali woman to win the CNN Hero award in the last three years after Anuradha Koirala, who leads Maiti Nepal, an organisation that combats the trafficking of girls. While it was announced at the official press meet for Kollywood that Sahana Bajracharya would play as the lead role in the movie, there were recent rumors spreading like wild fire that director Navraj Acharya has signed up Namrata Shrestha instead to play as the main lead. Well, the rumors are true.
