Samriddhi Rai, the former editor of Teenz magazine, was successful in bringing the title of Best Personality Award home from the prestigious international pageant held from December 13 to 29, 2011. This is the first time that any Nepali woman has won a title in an international beauty pageant after Ayusha Shrestha won the World Miss University in Seoul, Korea in 2003. Popular Nepali Actress Nisha Adhikari has started climbing Mt. Everest through a trekking agency, Seven Summit Trek Expedition, of climber Pemba Dorje Shrepa. At the time when they are in the basecamp, the government had announced that they haven’t received the climbing permit. A climbing permit application requires more than 2 months to process. So, they have not chance to get a proper permit, even if they want to apply for one. The agency has told that they are climbing Mt. Everest as high altitude worker. After the completion of the climbing, the certificate they will receive won’t be that of a climber but of a worker. The agency had collected Rs 1 million from each of the climbers but, it had failed to get the proper registration with the government. A registered climber will need to pay government US$ 25,000 plus the cost of climbing. Papular Youth icon and Nepali Actress Nisha Adhikari has registered an organization "Yuwa Udan" with which she will work as a social worker.She has opened this organization with her five other friends.As per her, the organization will provide relief to the Nepalese. The actress cleared that her organization will not seek any funds from any NGO/INGOs but will rather work independently as per youth's energy, time and interest.
